Andrew has an interest in joint replacement surgery, particularly in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, who are at increased risk of deep infection. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in recognition of his contribution to basic science research in rheumatoid arthritis and for improving surgical outcomes. He has a research collaboration with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Andrew was awarded an Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in recognition of this work in 2020.
